Workshop #1
PMSM Drive Control based on TMS C2000 Processor with PSIM Software
Duration: Four Hours
Presenter:
Prof. Gholamreza Arab Markadeh, Faculty of Engineering, Ferdowsi University, Mashhad, Iran University)

- Overview of PSIM Software and Simcoder
- Hardware Setting using TMS320F28034
- Current and Voltage Sensors Calibration
- Software Setting and Block Diagram Description
- Implementation of V/f, FOC, and SM Controllers for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor
Description:
TMS320F28XX processors family are designed and optimized for electrical drive control. To facilitate the programming of this processor in Code Composer Studio software, the operator should have skills in C language programming and must perform a complicated setting to use its capabilities. PSIM software, used in many great universities for power electronics and electrical drive simulations, can be applicable to program the DSP TMS32F28XX in a user-friendly environment and can generate the C code for use in code composer software and load it to TMS memory. In this workshop, the design and implementation of Scalar Control (V/f), Vector Control (FOC), and Sliding Mode Control (SMC) of a three-phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor are explained and verified using an experimental training setup.

Resonant Converters: Introduction, Structure and Design
Duration: One Hour
Presenter:
Mr. Reza Takarli, School of Electrical Engineering, Iran University University of Technology, Tehran, Iran
Headlines:
- Introduction to resonant converters
- Resonant converter structure
- Two- and three-element resonant converter
- Design steps
- A design example: LLC resonant converter
- Applications of resonant converters
Description:
In recent years, resonant converters have been capable of soft switching in a broad range of load changes. This makes them a suitable candidate in many applications like high-voltage output, battery chargers, and other applications where high power density and efficiency are needed. Due to the various applications of resonant converters, a technical workshop is needed to familiarize electrical engineering and power electronics students. This workshop aims to provide the audience with a thorough understanding of resonant converters, structure, and design of resonant converters.
Biography:
Reza Takarli received the M.Sc. degree (Hons.) in electrical engineering from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), Tehran, Iran, in 2023. His current research interests include power electronic converters analysis and design, soft-switching and resonant converters, high step-up power conversion, electric vehicles, and energy storage systems. He was a recipient of the ‘‘2021 Distinguished Master Student Award’’ from the Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) in 2021.
